Let's start the new year with a website review of one of the newest movies coming out in 2008 - and one of the best websites so far this year - The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A VeggieTales Movie. Veggie Pirates! Need we say more? The VeggieTales Movie Website is kid-friendly and adult and kid fun! One fun feature of the website is the "
Talk Like A Pirate" link, clicking on it will pull up some of the movie's veggies, and they will give you tips on how to talk like a pirate - the words are spelled out phonetically so you get the pirate lingo just right, and there's even a button to press to hear the pirate phrase spoken like a pirate would! There are quite a few phrases from everything to the common "ayoy there" - (ah-hoy thayr) to the popular "avast ye scurvy dogs" (uh-vast yee scur-vee dogs). When you're done, you can download a diplopma awarding you the title of "Honorary Veggie Pirate" on the Veggie Pirate Crew! Who are the veggies? Well, the website has a link to find out. The characters (Willory the aspargus, Robert the gourd, George the grape, Elliot the cucumber, Alexander, and Sedgewick) each have a link, and clicking on them will bring up their photos and biographies, complete with a clip of them in action.
Let's move on to the fun stuff - games! You'll find three games to choose from - Jump Ship! (six levels, can you make it? the boat moves faster each time...the prize? a Veggie Elliot
buddy icon and a ship wallpaper), The Shipwreck Islands (sail through the islands safely while collecting and avoiding obstacles - prize is a cucumber wallpaper), and Me (Artichoke) Hearties (the easiest game, just a game of memory, match everything and watch a video). Another great feature of the site is the
VeggieTales Printables! Print out doorhangers, bookmarks, growth chart, book cover, coloring pages and stickers!
