I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that February is just not a good month for movies - nor is it a good month for movie websites is my guess. I had one hope - one! That the movie website for Cop Out would be good. What will you find if you go there? A trailer, a poster, and a link to myspace and facebook. Yes, I'm serious. That is ALL. Not even an about section! What is Cop Out about? Beats me! They didn't bother to tell me on the site! OK, I did a little homework for you and read about the movie somewhere else, so here's my synopses, but please...don't bother visiting this movie website. Can I rate it a zero? :-)

Movie Synopses: Cop Out stars Bruce Willis and is about two NYPD cops on assignment to find a baseball card thief, who end up going against a tough gangster.

The Good Guy Not Good Website

I don't know what's up with the movie websites this year. When I visited the website for the upcoming movie The Good Guy, I assumed, because it said "enter site" on the main page, I would be really entering something that would be worth my while. Why have an Enter Site if there's nothing to enter? Ask the website makers of this site please. On this site you'll find a gallery, about section, and a trailer section. That's it!! That's alL!!! I feel fooled, and so I'll say, don't bother visiting this movie website. Bleh.

Movie Synopses: The Good Guy stars Alexis Bledel and is a romantic dramedy about a girl named Beth who falls for a Wall Street guy, but then might be falling for his roommate as well.

I often like to visit smaller known movie websites to see what the're doing. I mean, they can have good sites too! And if it's good, I'm much more likely to see the movie! It was with this hope that I visited the movie website for District 13 Ultimatum. I had no knowledge of the movie, and was really hoping that the movie site could get me interested in it. Alas. I was wrong. The movie website is set up blog style, with a trailer at the top, and the facebook feed at the bottom. Ugh. Just not that interesting for what is supposed to be a super-action styled movie! Don't hold your breath for anything more than an image gallery and one more poster. Sorryl

Shutter Island AIM Icons

When you visit the movie website for the upcoming movie Shutter Island, the first (and only) link to visit is the "Downloads" section, where you'll find a few movie wallpapers and AIM icons to choose from. (I know, I agree, for a movie as big as this one with Leonardo DiCaprio they could have given us some other kinds of downloads, but.... well, they didn't. :-( The site looks really cool, and like there should be a whole lot on there to do, but unfortunately the downloads is the best part! The rest is just the standard about section and trailer section...not even an image gallery! Sorry! I don't get why the site's not better. It could be..it could be sooo much better, but for now, visit the website if you want a wallpaper or aim icon. If not, well, don't bother!

North Face Climb the Eiger!

Fans of climbing will find the new movie North Face certainly an interesting choice to see in movie theaters. But is the website worth a visit? Well, if you're a climber, then probably, because the movie website for North Face is all about business - no games! The best part of the site is all the information you can get about the Eiger North Face. Information about the "myth" of the Eigerwand, and Interviews with Philipp Stolzl and Kolja Brandt round out the site making it very informative. There are of course also teasers and an about section where you can get movie stills, posters, and info on the cast.
SMR Overall review: Visit if you're a climbing buff, not if you're just looking to have some fun.

Movie Synoses: North Face is based on a true story. It tells the story of a group of climbers who venture out to climb the Eiger North Face in July of 1936.

The movie website for the upcoming movie Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief has a tool for you to find out if you are a demigod and have a special power yourself! Just click on the Find Your Power and you'll be prompted to answer a brief quiz, upload a picture, and apply your power! Your pic is modified to show your power, and there's a link to download it so you can use it on myspace, facebook, or wherever you want! You can also add the "Use Your Power" tool to your browser so that when you visit a website you can "unleash" your power on the site! That's the only tool / game available on the site, but hey, at least they have something! Before you leave, check out the trailer - the movie looks like it's going to be pretty good too!

Frozen Twitter

I was feeling cold today, so when I saw the movie Frozen, I thought I just had to check out their website! I can't say that there was too much to do on the website. In fact, I can say that there was nothing to do on the website! But had I not gone, I would not have seen the movie trailer and realized this movie looks pretty cool. So, I encourage you, visit the site - watch the trailer, and then click on the Downloads section and pick between a desktop, a screensaver and a Twitter Background (which is pretty cool since this is the first movie that I've ever seen offer this)! Rest of the site is pretty standard with the cast/crew, image gallery, and about section. Don't forget to join Frozen on Twitter!

Movie Synopses: Frozen is about three snowboarders who get stranded in a chairlift. The resort will not open for another week, so the trio must find some way to rescue themselves before they freeze to death.

Please don't go! There's nothing to do over there! Really. Nothing. I mean, you can watch the trailer, see some of the movie stills, and then become a fan of the Yellow Handkerchief on facebook...but is it really worth it? Eh. If the trailer was embeddable, I'd put it here so you don't have to go over. :-)

Veer movie

A new movie coming out for bollywood, Veer is set to be released in less than a week. The movie is one of the first bollywood, Hindi, film we've seen that actually put up a half-way decent website! While there aren't too many extras on the site - no games, etc., you will find everything you need to learn more about the movie, including a whole section of photos from the movie, a characters section which provides a rundown of each of the main warriors, and a movie trailer. There are also some wallpaper and poster downloads available (good job bollywood! sometimes even hollywood websites leave us dangling without any freebies!). And, suprisingly veer is all hooked up on the social networking seen as well, and has links to Veer on Facebook, on twitter, and on Orkut.

SMR Overall Review: Pretty good for a bollywood movie. In the grand scheme of things, all it has is info about the movie, but hey, if you're interested in this bollywood flick, visiting the site is probably worth it to learn more about the movie!

From Paris with Love

From Paris with Love, sound like a love story? It actually might be somewhere mixed in we wont find out until the release but I can tell you that this is the new movie with John Travolta and there is action all over this one!

I have to tell you, at least 90% of the websites I visit I have no expectations for. I hear about a movie release and go to the website to learn about the movie (and rate the site) not learning about it until close to its release of course unless its a BIG movie and the promos are everywhere. But like most studios real promotion doesnt start until close to its release. My point here is that I rate these from as close to a blank slate as possible I just wanted any confusion cleared up.

From Paris with Love, right when I loaded this website (remember, not knowing anything about it beforehand) I expected it to be BIG. I expected that moment for the best wesbite of the year so far, ohhhh but how I was disappointed. On the homepage of From Paris with Love there is a big bald head of John Travolta and the image is sooo clear and such high quality that it kinda freaks me out looking at this bald head, I cant take my eyes off it! So the intro comes in, trailer starts, graphics start moving alll fine and sweet up until this moment.

Until its time for some real content. The audio on the trasitions within the menu is terrible, I mean terrible, you dont even want to listen to it. The picture quality is also poor, the quality is so pixelated that when they show some scenes I might as well be watching from the first ever video cam!

The worst part of all of From Paris with Love movie website is that one section of the website is very good quality then you start to click around only to find that someone gave up trying to insert nice clips!

But! There is one good thing! You can get a free From Paris with Love wallpaper and aim icon ;-)

SMR's recommendation: Another one for your favorite movie website, no need in visiting the official site, catch the trailer anywhere you want!

The Crazies

The Crazies is as it may sound a crazy horror movie! Every time I hear the, The Crazies, though it makes me laugh or smile. Im not exactly sure what part makes me smile, but it does.

So the website for the movie The Crazies is pretty awesome. I think there is a pretty good trend and if I tried may be able to pull some statistics that horror movies definitely have the best movie websites. Of course Im talking about just in general maybe one day we will run the statistics on this just to see what type of movie has better websites.

The website for The Crazies is very animate. The loading screen is a pretty graphic, every time you click on a new menu item the page turns like in a book. The sound level for the site is optimal, the graphics are clear and visible, the website is by no means convoluted like some can be.

So you are wondering why is he telling me this? The features I just mentioned sound minor but you wouldn't believe what kind of websites some of these movies try to pass off to us, the moviegoer. Check out the battlemail game to send a battle to your friend via email, they too may be caught in a predicament after playing the game. The downloads section has The Crazies wallpapers, aim icons, and The Crazies screensaver. Of course, cast and crew, synopsis, still gallery, and trailer are there.

SMR's recommendation: If you are into design I would say this movie website is a good example of the optimal sort of website although lacking some more interactivity, or atleast more free stuff...

The Lovely Bones movie

You may have seen the previews for The Lovely Bones movie. Its the one with Mark Walberg and the girl that dies at a really young age. I almost skipped right past this movie website. Im glad I didnt though because this is an example of a very beautifully, elegantly done website.

Ok, so there are no games on The Lovely Bones website, and there is not much stuff to actually do, but the site is very nice. The quality of the pictures, flash videos, and the sound are done nearly perfectly. The images are cool (color) and give the whole site a very dreamy feel and appearance. There are not blasts of sound clips, no harsh images to look at. Every transition is dreamy and makes me feel like Im in someone elses world.

You can grab The Lovely Bones wallpaper and aim icon, watch the trailer, check out the movie stills all in a dreamy atmosphere.

SMR's recommendation: Elegant movie website. Nicely put together, just doesnt have much to do.

Tooth Fairy: Magic Toolbar

The upcoming movie - Tooth Fairy actually looks like it will be a pretty funny movie! And the website could be just as fun! But it has a few kinks that need to be worked out, like not being able to escape from some of it's features! Here's a rundown: The best feature of the site is the "Magic Toolbar" at the top. I've never really seen anything quite like it on other movie websites. Basically, you can drag it into your toolbar and use the magic tools on any website you visit! The tools include the "Cat Away" which is a blowhorn that actually shakes the webpage up making things a little crooked, the hockey puck, which puts a hockey stick on your screen and lets you kick pucks around causing fake breaks in the website, then there's the invisible spray which is super cool - just spray a little on part of the page, and that part of the website disappears!, and finally there's the Shrinking paste, which is a tube you squirt on the site and whatever it gets on becomes smaller! My only problem with the magic toolbar is that once you're using a tool, it's almost impossible to get back to your normal mouse use. I actually had to refresh the whole website just to get out of the tools!

Another cool part of the Tooth Fairy site is there's also a game called "Tooth Fairy Flight School" that you can play. The game itself is OK, basically you're a tooth fairy that flies around avoiding tennis balls. Somehow I ended up in the spanish version of the game without even knowing how it happened, and then it was almost impossible for me to get out of the game (I had to refresh the screen...uggh!)

Other problems with the site include that the characters, downloads, and gallery section are not yet up on the site, and the movie starts in less than 2 weeks!

Movie Synopses: Tooth Fairy stars Dwayne Johnson and is about a hockey player named Derek Thompson who almost made a child not believe in the tooth fairy. As punishment, he's sentenced to serve a week as an actual tooth fairy himself.

Valentines Day movie

Valentines Day has soo many top names! Taylor Swift! Jessica Alba, Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Biel, George Lopez, Julia Roberts! Jennifer Garner, Topher Grace, Kathy Bates, Anne Hathaway, Emma Roberts, Taylor Lautner, Bradley Cooper, Queen Latifah, Hector Elizondo, and Shirley Maclaine! I nearly ran out of breath there naming all those actors! This movie hits theaters just in time for the most romantic day of the year, Valentine's Day.

With a cast like this what would you expect from the website? Yeah, me too, a sweet, romantic, cool website that offers something...anythinguse those stars for a nice website.

Epic failure! The website has absolutely the minimum. You can read the synopsis, see the movie still gallery, and check out the trailer. The downloads section is still coming soon, how much sooner can we get?! Valentines Day is right around the corner. Its too bad a movie that might actually be pretty big fails to dish out a proper website.

SMR's recommendation: Fail. The official website for the Valentines Day movie is not worth your time even if it does have a spectacular cast.

We gained many subscribers and learned alot about what makes a good movie website, why people would want to visit, what do they get out of it, and what keeps them there entertained. This year I am sure we will pass well over the mark from last year and the years before.

What we need now since the year is fresh and new is some feedback. We want to know what other type of information you might want from a movie website. When In Rome with Kristen Bell

When In Rome...Kristen Bell and Josh Duhamel. This movie is looking like a romantic comedy. Visiting this website is pretty straight forward. I kept looking for an Enter website button but discovered that there was no such thing.

So what you see is what you get, When In Rome gives you the bare bones of websites. You will find the When In Rome movie trailer and a couple of other small clips and photos but not much else. If you want you can link up to their twitter or facebook but thats as far as it goes. One other mention is that if you are in college you can have your school set up for a special screening of the movie, see the website for more details on that. When In Rome official movie website is the basic set up for a movie. If you want to see the trailer you can find it on your favorite movie site, no need in visiting the official site...

Extraordinary Measures inspirational or not?

Extraordinary Measures is a film Starring Harrison Ford and Brendan Fraser for CBS Films. The story is inspired by a true story of a journey to cure a disease. So it only fits that the official movie website for Extraordinary Measures be related to helping others. This is exactly what the website does.

There are several ways to connect with others that give to charity, or to charity organizations on the Extraordinary Measures website. And they have done a decent job on putting the information on the site. You can share stories, find places to donate, and gain inspiration from others.

Not only can you find stories of inspiration but you can also play a game on the website. There is a puzzle game that lets you piece together wallpapers from the movie. Its a wonder why they did not allow us these wallpapers for download.

SMR's recommendation: I think the Extraordinary Measures website was trying to be inspiring, but failed to be more than just another basic movie website...

Edge of Darkness Mel Gibson

Edge of Darkness movie. Apparently Mel Gibson is doing some acting wanna see how the website for his new movie shapes out?

This is the first official movie website of 2010 that automatically takes full control of your screen overall this is usually a good sign. The movie website is overall basic, you get the basic goodies such as movie wallpapers, screen savers , and aim icons. The design for the movie site is beefy, in your face, but clean! When I say clean I mean that the lines and design are done in a manner that there is no confusion on what you are looking at and the flow is very simplistic. You browse the movie still gallery very easy- click, quick, and clean! The graphics are in your face, as well as the text... love it when the text is large! Sometimes they can put the text in a tiny font, not that I have bad eye sight but it's just a movie website! Do you really need to squint to read a movie website?!

Navigation is a breeze. One of the features of the site is to sample the score or soundtrack to the movie. So if you just love listening to soundtracks this is the place to get a sample. Every click of the mouse gives good clean sound effect, even mouse rollovers are done nicely.

I have not heard about this movie but after visiting the website it makes me curious to find out more leaving me with just enough information to want to search for a better fix. For the people who love Mel Gibson you should check this website out, dont be surprised when you dont find him in a comedic role. The Spy Next Door is an annoyance

The Spy Next Door. This is a movie with Jackie Chan Billy Ray Cyrus, so you can probably guess that its a comedy. The website for the movie The Spy Next Door is, so far, the most annoying website of 2010. But! There are some activities to do on here so dont write it off yet. The problem with this movie website right off the bat is the beeping sound when it loads. You might think Im just being picky, but Im not! Every time you go to a new section there is this awful alarm clock sounding beep, beep, beeep, beeee! The beeeeping is not the only problem either. There is an audio track that plays while you navigate the website, the clip is the most obnoxious piece of sound that loops over and over and over at the most annoying part of the music. This music has its place so dont get me wrong, I dont mind rock and roll or alternative music. But all music has its place and if you are trying to get visitors to stay on the website dont put racket!

On to the The Spy Next Door activities. In the downloads section you can get some free wallpapers, screen savers of the movie, and aim icons. There are also some pleasant games to play, although they are by no means complicated, if you have a moment to waste (and I mean waste) you can waste it here. They have an iPhone / iPod touch app to download too. There are some activities that are printable if you want to keep the kids busy on a Saturday afternoon.

Overall The Spy Next Door official movie website is terrible. The audio lay over is annoying, and tries (but fails) to be spy-ish sound. The games are fairly lame, but do pass for (having) games, the activities look meh, and the loading page is absolutely a major turn off. The website is so poorly put together and managed that the loading sound doesn't even happen on every page, at the least be consistent! come on! ...

SMR's recommendation: If you need some activities to print out for a day to keep the kids busy then you might think about checking out this movie website. The movie websites of 2009 really stepped it up from 2008, so the standard for having a really good website was raised over the previous year. Alot of the movie sites that we rated would have been 4 or 5 star in 2008, but in 2009 because of the competition and the creativeness of the website designers, the standard was really raised. We've got to therefore say that even the movie sites that fell in the 3 and 4 categories were actually pretty good...and there were quite a few that fell right in the middle. To get a 5, we really required a website to stand out, to give us something we weren'se seeing from everyone else. We really held high standards for the 5s, and because of this, only a handful even made it to the top. All 7 of the sites that made it to the top were great, but it's time to pick the best of the best. So, without further ado, the best movie website of 2009 goes to one site that really blew us away...

Best Movie Website of 2009: Terminator Salvation

The Terminator Salvation site had one of the best uses of the "Transform Yourself" applications we've seen on the web. Just upload a picture of yourself, and you can become a terminator - they call it "Terminate Yourself". The site also had games for your Ipod and Iphone, plenty of downloads, and plenty of info about the movie. It's probably the most fun I've had on a website all year! Even if you don't care for the Terminator series, you'll love this site. If you haven't been there, check it out, you won't be disappointed!

Are you ready for the worst movie website of 2009? Of all the movies we reviewed in '09 - and we reviewed over 100 movies there were about half a dozen that just did nothing for us. No effort, no fun, no point visiting. But there was one that shined above the others in how bad it was. There was one that when we reviewed it earlier in the year we thought was the worst, and no movie throughout the rest of the year ever topped it... The award for the absolute worst movie website of 2009 goes to.....

Bruno!!!
The Bruno movie website far outdid it self by being the worst site we saw all year. The worst part about the site is that you couldn't even tell that it was dedicated to the movie! It's loaded with ads and misc. junkie info. Netflix? College? Cars? Software? Come on!! We want to know about the movie! Why are we going to dig through everything on this site to try and find the info? You've got to sell the movie to us, and this site did not do it. You may think that Sacha Baron Cohen is funny, but his movie's site is the bottom of the barrel.

I couldnt even find a download or image for you. It was just that bad. Congratulations!

Since this is New Years eve I thought I would make this post short and sweet. Most of us have plans or are ready to leave work and wont have time to visit todays movie website post.

If you cant visit dont sweat it. Todays post is definitely NSFW (not suitable for work) viewing and to tell you the truth I debated on whether to review it. I decided it was a pretty good website even though I would classify it as probably a minimum of a PG-13 to a rated R website. It has clips of girls, and girls, and um half naked girls. Not to mention that I had to censor the title since we are a *ahem* respectable movie review website.

So if you are old enough and dont mind the vulgarity the website is pretty fun. You can grab a shovel and dig around, grab a wallpaper for free, and even find a gun in the sand and blow stuff up with it.

This is a bonus post, dont worry if you cant have a visit you wont be missing anything spectacular.

The Book of Eli, the new movie with Denzel Washington on a mission.
The website for The Book of Eli is fairly nice, there is one part in particular that is worth checking out, especially if you like comic/drawing art. Ill get to that in a minute.
If you are looking for The Book of Eli downloads you are in luck on this website. There are several wallpapers and aim icons. There are also plans (coming soon) for a screensaver, most of the time though they never put it up, well see..
The trailer is embed-able, and the movie still gallery is there to flip through. But before you go flipping through the movie stills I must warn you that they will not make you want to see this movie any more. If you are looking forward to this movie skip those stills, they are pretty boring lame Its a shame too because the trailer for the movie makes you want to see it, but then you flip through these pictures and you are like, meh. So just save yourself the heartbreak if you are looking forward to this film.
On the other hand, there is a notable feature of the Book of Eli movie weskit that makes it very unique. By clicking on the Look of Eli you have the ability to compare the real movie stills (which are much better than the others) to the storyboard drawings. The real still and the art of layered on top of one another. Use the slider to transition back and for from real to art to see how the scenes match up to the storyboard. Pretty neat very unique...

Legion - battle, heaven, earth

Legion movie. Looks like horror, smells like horror.
Although the movie Legion looks like horror it is actually labeled in the action/fantasy category. This movie is about the battle of mankind, the last battle when (supposedly) God himself sends angels to earth because of his lose of faith for humans maybe I misinterpreted this because to me this doesnt sound right, but it is a movie so...
The movie website. The website for Legion is fairly simple, graphics simple, clean, and neat. There is a downloads section with a Legion screensaver, wallpapers, and aim icons. There are also the social networking links up so you can connect.
The website basically gives you a good feel for what the movie is going to be like, and after visiting the Legion site you feel more inclined to check out what the movie has to offer.
Sometimes simple is better, but how can some very simple websites be better than the super complicated ones that make you sign up for stuff or (easter egg) hunt for stuff? Well, its all about moderation. Take the safe and simple route, but if you dont, be careful how complicated you make the website or the visitors will be turned off... there is a good complicated, few websites have perfected this.

SMR's recommendation: If the battle of heaven and earth sounds interesting, and you can spare 5 minutes, take a tour its quick and painless.

Leap Year - leap into relaxation

Leap Year, starring Amy Adams and Matthew Goode. I cant say that this movie website has much interactivity, because it doesnt. I can, however, say that this website is very inviting. The design is for a relaxed state of mind, the nice cool green colors. The bright vivid pictures of scenes from the movie, and the elegant animations all make this website very appealing.

A fine example of a standard, not so flashy, simple website, that can draw in visitors to gain information without having them become frustrated with new sign ups.

I didnt say that there were NO downloads, there are a few Leap Year wallpapers and aim icons with the same elegance as the website. You can also catch the trailer and embed it in your favorite corner of the web if you would like.

Sometimes less is more better...

Daybreakers- unhuman-like conduct

Daybreakers is a vampire movie that takes the bloodsucking to the new extreme. On screen humans will be bred into the vampires food until the day comes that humans are on the verge of extinction. Although it seem as though the movie website for Daybreakers did an elaborate job, which they did, there is not much for the average browser. To do anything besides grabbing the Daybreakers wallpapers or aim icons you must have a facebook account. To submit to the bloodbank or to capture humans you are required to have an account with facebook. Im not saying that nobody has one, what I am saying is that this is not universal interactivity and therefore losing points. In fact, I dont have a FB and found it irritating to have to login to participate. Daybreakers you left me, a human, out in the cold how dare you...

SMR's recommendation: Meh visit or not you wont be missing anything, just be prepared to be singled out for not being a Vampire.

Youth In Revolt - fail

Youth In Revolt movie stars Michael Cera (Superbad), and Portia Doubleday. Im not really understanding movie websites lately. They are trying to make us (visitors) sign up for new sites or jump through other hoops just to get information about the movie.
The Youth In Revolt movie website does the very same thing. To get any type of free goodies, ex: wallpapers...etc. You must complete a list of tasks described in a notebook on the website.
This might have been fun if the tasks were simple enough and could be accomplished quickly and easily. But they cant, so now I am stuck describing a movie website that did not want to share much promo information because they would rather us work for it in addition to taking out $10 at the door. Websites are supposed to be fun!
The good? Ok, there is one feature where you can make your own avatar, which seems cool. So I started, I uploaded the photo blah blah. Then, to finish the avatar, you answer a series of questions. Which to me, after being redirected to this and that site and being asked to sign up for new other stuff, was the final straw!

SMR's recommendation: Youth In Revolt website is totally not worth your visit, your time, your effort, your end or beginning of the new year. As a favor to yourself, unless you want to sign up and work for content, dont visit. The Youth In Revolt website fails...

Its Complicated how movies are made, but the new movie website for Its Complicated doesnt seem very complicated. Alec Baldwin, Meryl Streep, and Steve Martin star in this new movie. The movie might be good, we have yet to find out, but I can tell you that the website it very simple. You can find basic information about the movie including spots for the cast and crew and synopsis. There are also a few aim icon downloads and a few movie wallpapers that they offer, but aside from that there is nothin! Movie websites like this count on their viewers to not be able to work the web, and that seems very insulting. But is it? Maybe a little, but the point here is that they could gain more movie goers by promoting the younger crowd, the ones who enjoy the movie websites and their ability to sway us to the theater.

Did You Hear About The Morgans? Yea, me neither. Just the title of this movie makes me feel left out of the loop, someones loop, guess it must be the Hollywood loop. Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker want us to figure out the question Did You Hear About The Morgans? The problem is, why should we care to find out about the Morgans? The website is super lame! They give a wallpaper, twitterskin, and a screensaver for free but they don't give me my time back. What this movie does not offer is a proper website. Answer this: who are the Morgans? I dont know! Why are the Morgans?! Who knows! And the website does not clear up any of this confusion. On top of that there are two faces starring at you on the main page peeking through the brush. And its beginning to freak me out! They leave us out of the loop, don't care to get us involved with the characters, and willy nilly slap a lame website for us... shame shame shame on the Morgans... Oh, btw, did you hear about the Morgans?

Sherlock Holmes the newest movie to be remade from a classic ends up in the theaters on Christmas Day. Looking for downloads? You came to the right place! There are many Sherlock Holmes wallpapers, posters, icons, and even one screensaver. The only problem is that they are all pretty much exactly the same images on the posters. There is not much variety or selection which kind of gives us a hint of how the rest of the website turns out. Want to solve a mystery just like Mr. Holmes? Click the link that says solve the mystery at 221B.SH and play the facebook game. I have a better mystery though, the mystery is this is the best Sherlock game they could come up with?! This again gives us the hint! Hey! Maybe I am a better detective than I thought... With a little more investigative work there is a feature on the Sherlock Holmes website that you can do some real mystery solving. Click the unlock your Sherlock link and you will be taken through custom movie clips where you are allowed to solve a real mystery. You are taken through a party and as you observe the night you can do some detective work such as eavesdropping or spying. Of course it is on a time limit. Once you think you know the mystery you can click to solve it. This is pretty time consuming, so if you need to kill some time this is the way to do it!

Up In The Air - Up in cyberspace

Next to absolute nothingness on the official website for the new movie with George Clooney called Up In The Air. But just as the same director did for Juno which was smoothly directed and entranced its audience this website seems to do the same for the visitor. First of all and probably the best of all, the best thing a website can do is sample the soundtrack for FREE! I cant stress this any more, visitors love sampling the soundtrack! The website makes you wan to browse and think about things exactly what Im not sure. But I found myself feeling the need to see this movie even though I had not incline to do so before hand. Sure you can find a few wallpaper downloads and possibly a screensaver. You can also view several clips form the movie. But what this website does best is sit here in the cyberworld awaiting for you to find it and when you get here it will take you away...

You can choose from loads of different options for the wardrobe and for voices. The voices have options to record your own via microphone, telephone, or even just use a pre-recorded message. You can even send your own Chipmunk Christmas card and play a game! The website for the Squeakquel is simple but fun, not confusing, and very kid friendly. If you have the kids on the computer anyway send them to the website! But its not just for kids, once you Munk yourself you can embed your avatar onto your favorite social networking site.

Avatar - Explore the world of Pandora

One of the biggest movies that will be released this month is Avatar starring Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez, and Sam Worthington. We know the movie is supposed to be very good, but what is the movie website like? Is it worth a visit? Yes! The Avatar site has an "Interactive Trailer" which you can download! This is the first interactive trailer I've ever seen offered on a movie website! There's also a pretty cool link to AVTR which is a website set up as though AVATAR were real and you could explore the world. This is where you're really going to find all the fun games, and information that you'll want to explore. There are field reports showing things like the employee's mug, ID Tags, and water bottles and there's a link to see if you're qualified to Join the Avatar Program (clicking on the link actually brings you to a Facebook game which you play to see if you can become qualified). Another good link from the Avatar site is the "Toy" link that brings you to a really cool game called Avatar ITag. If you're wanting to find out about all the lingo in Pandora, there's also a link to Pandorapedia!
Overall: Cool website, with lots to do. Must visit! Don't forget, Avatar is on Twitter, and there are plenty of downloads available.

Movie Synopses: Avatar is by director John Cameron, and is an action science fiction film about Jake Sully, a former marine confined to a wheelchair who is recruited to travel to the human outpost on Pandora where humans are mining a mineral that will solve Earth's energy crisis. The atmosphere on Pandora is toxic, so the humans have developed avatars or remote-controlled bodies which the humans control.

The Wolfman: The Curse that turns you into a werewolf

After delay upon delay, the new movie The Wolfman with Benicio Del Toro will be out in February. After hearing this exciting news we stopped by the movie website to see what goodies were in store...unforunately, not too many. The website seems to be suffering from no-creativity, no marketing effort, and little funding. On the site, the only things you are able to do is read about the story, look at the image gallery, and watch the movie trailer or the featurette (which I found very interesting. What a disappointment for a movie that had so many possibilities - where are the games? The activities? The downloads? The hype! People want werewolves! Unfortunately the movie website does not give it to them...I still however have hopes for the movie itself.

Movie Synopses: The movie the Wolfman stars Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, and Emilty Blunt. It is a horror movie inspired by the original film of the same name. Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot a nobleman that returns to his childhood home and discovers a secret about himself....he is afflicted with an ancient curse that turns him into a werewolf when the moon is full. Old Dogs Movie starring John Travolta and Robin Williams

With a movie title like Old Dogs, I didn't know what to expect from the website...a boring place that only old people would want to visit? No! It is a Disney movie after all, and they gave us a little bit of a reason to visit with a fun Games section! Yes, there are games!! They're basic - nothing high tech, but still fun - and there are two to choose from including Golf Cart Chaos and Flying Disc Frenzy. Once you've played the games, the rest of the site is pretty standard - gallery, video section to watch the movie trailer, and a downloads section which actually has quite a few AIM icons to choose from.. but only one wallpaper and screensaver choice.

Movie Synopses: Old Dogs is a Disney film starring Robin Williams and John Travolta, and is about two best bachelor friends who have their lives turned upside down when they are put in charge of 7 year old twins.

Ninja Assassin Movie Wallpaper

If you are patient enough for the Ninja Assassin website to load (and it does take some time), you'll find a nice graphics-heavy site that needs a little bit more work to be worth a visit. The Become a Ninja link was the first thing I clicked on as it seeme to hold some promise for some excitement, but the link simply pulls up a website which says "forbidden" and will not load whatever fun it has. Bust. The "Promotions" link, which I had hoped would have some goodies for me was also coming soon and an invalid link. Luckily, there are some downloads available in the downloads section - take your pick amongst wallpapers, posters, AIM Icons, and screensavers. The video and photos section of the site will fill you in on the visuals, and if you like the cool-action packed music on the site - and in the movie - the link to the Soundtrack will tell you where to buy it.

Select a male or female creator, then adjust the head body, and likes and dislikes of your character before downloading it as wallpaper for your computer! Get your own unique avatar! Very fun. But the website has more to offer than just an avatar...it also has a great games section! There are 7 different games available to play. Three of them are games that are available to play immediately online including Spot the Differences, Land Chuck's Spaceship, and Target Practice....games that are fun enough to keep you occupied for quite a while! The other four games are available either on sega, nick.com, or shockwave.com. Besides the online games, there's also an IPhone game called Hide And Seek which you can download to your IPhone for free from iTunes! The site developers have really focused on the mobile community with this site, which is one great thing...you'll even find free mobile downloads available for your cell simply by texting keywords. More interested in learning about the movie Planet 51 itself? Click on the Characters link to pull up the biographies you can read - and listen to! - of each of the members including Rover, Glar, Lem, Skiff, Eckle, and Chuck! SMR Overall review: Great site with lots to do! Could have used an activity book, but even without it's still fun. Can't wait until the promotions link is up and working, at the time of our visit it still said "Coming Soon".

Everyone knows the new vampire / werewolf movie New Moon (part of the Twilight saga) is coming out very very soon. So is it worth visiting the website before you see the film? If you're a Twilight fan, yes! There aren't any games, but there's plenty of video, photos, and biographies. One of the best offerings of the website is the "Mobile" link which lets you download the Twilight Tracker App to your iphone or itouch. The media section not only offers the trailers and TV spots online, but also has a special iPhone link for viewing. Behind-the-scenes and Music Videos round out the offerings available for those who want to see everything they can before the movie is released. There are also a number of wallpapers available by entering the different worlds - there's a link to enter the world of the volturi where you can click on the different vampires and learn about them. The best part of the movie website is the "Survive 2012 Game" which asks you a series of questions to see how well you would survive a natural disastor - speed and accuracy will take you through the stages of the game. Besides this game however, there's alot more to the 2012 movie experience - click on "experience" and you'll see what I mean! You can completely involve yourself in the movie world the site designers have created with links to the movie's IHC (Institue for Human Continuity), which has all kinds of information on "scientific research" and "public preparedness" related to 2012, and where you can register for the survival lottery, links to be able to vote for the leader of the post-2012 world, and links to get info on "corruption theories" and "the end". There's also a link to Farewell Atlantis which is the novel the movie is based on. Too much info? just want fun? The Men Who Stare At Goats - Join The New Earth Army

The movie website for the upcoming movie The Men Who Stare At Goats has all the right pieces, but it leaves me feeling only luke-warm...and I'm not sure why! Sure, it does have a few games to play - which are short, but tolerably fun - all based upon psychic-testing abilities - clicking both the games link and the "Join The Army, Take the Test" will get you there. There is also the Fact or Fiction section which is kind of interesting and is basically an interview with the author Jon Ronson that wrote the novel the movie is based on. But that's basically all the site has. The rest is the usual - movie plot, stills, trailer, and downloads. Eh. The site's OK.

Movie Synopses: The Men Who Stare At Goats stars some big actors including Jeff Bridges, George Clooney, Kevin Spacey, and Ewin McGregor, and is a "comedic look at real life events" in a top-secret wing of the US Military. Supposedly there exists an experimental US military unit called "The New Earth Army" which has a legion of "Warrior Monks" whose psychic powers can read the enemy's thoughts.

Splinterheads The Movie - Geocachers welcome!

I really didn't think the movie website for the upcoming film Splinterheads would have anything on it, but the site surprised me. Now, it's not the best site, but at least they have some things up. The best part of the movie website is the link for geocachers - I like the idea that they're trying to incorporate another angle into the movie. Just click on the "Geocachers link" and put in your name and other info - I don't know if they'll actually have geocaching, but if so, that is super cool! Another nice section of the site is the downloads section, where you can find movie posters, stills, wallpaper, AIM Icons, and even a press kit. I'm not clear if the movie will be in wide release or not, so click on the "events" tab to find out where you can see it. The site also has a "Demand It" section which seems to build upon the same marketing scheme that Paranormal Activity did - the more people that demand it in certain areas, the more releases it will have.

Movie Synopses: SPLINTERHEADS introduces Thomas Middleditch as Justin Frost, a twenty-something slacker who has decided that his thing is that he has no thing at all. When a small-time carnival rolls into town, he meets Galaxy (Rachael Taylor), a gorgeous con artist who has more things going for her than anyone he has ever met. Galaxy takes Justin on a geocaching adventure, a GPS based activity that is part hike and part treasure hunt, and he quickly falls for her. Complicating matters are his moms (Lea Thompson) floundering relationship with a lovesick local cop (Christopher McDonald) and Galaxys insanely jealous boyfriend Reggie (Dean Winters). In order to win her over hes going to need to step up his game, and maybe even figure out what his thing really is.

The Fourth Kind - UFO Resources

This halloween if you want to be freaked out, visit the movie website for the upcoming horror movie The Fourth Kind. There isn't too very much to do on the site, but there is alot of information that you can find on alien encounters, abductions, and beliefs. The best part of the site focuses on this - you'll find a "Resources" section where you can find links to information on theories, sightings, evidence, contact, and abduction...and some of the sites are places you'd never think of going, like the National UFO Reporting Center...check out it, there's some useful resources if you're really interested in this kind of extraterrestrial information. The website also has a "Share your beliefs" section where you can link up on facebook and twitter with others who may have had encounters. The rest of the site is pretty standard, with a trailer which is terrifying....and they don't stopwith just one, there are 6 different clips, previews, and featurettes to choose from.

Overall SMR Review: In short - if you're into UFOs, visit this site, at the very least, you'll get hooked up with all kinds of resources to further your belief!

The Box Comic Book The Teleporting Man

Coming out in only a couple of weeks is the new Warner Brothers movie The Box, starring Cameron Diaz. A quick visit to the movie website brings up a trailer which presents a movie that looks very intriguing. From here you can click the Enter link to go to the site and see what else is going on. Be patient as the counter counts up to 100...yes, it has to count all the way to 100 before you get access. If you are patient enough, you'll get to the heart of the site that has some interesting features where you can explore exactly what the box is about such as a PDF Comic Book of the teleporting man, or information about HRE - Human Resource Exploitation Manual, or Remember, you will have to disable popups to see everything the site has to offer. My big complaint about the site as a whole is that it takes forever for pages to load, and although the counter comes up telling you it's loading, you have no clear idea how long it will take. The navigation on the site is also horrendous - I understand the idea is to get you to explore, but at some point you get frustrated and leave. Like I did! Overall: Good idea on the website, poor execution.

The House of the Devil Watch on Halloween

The movie website for the new film The House of the Devil does not have much on it except a trailer. I guess the intention behind that is to focus on the movie itself - which does look like it will be a good Halloween flick! However, there is really no good reason to visit the website itself. The best part of the site, and there really arent too many things on the site at all so it is slim pickings, is the link to the House of the Devil Facebook page where if you are looking for another friend for Halloween, you can add this movie. The rest of the site has nothing to offer except a press release and a trailer. Sorry everyone, bad site. But on the other hand, the movie does look good! Lets hope that's where they spent all the money.

The movie website for the new movie Amelia is set-up like a blog, and because of that, it has alot of information on it. Is it worth a visit? Well, if you are researching or wanting more information on Amelia Earhart, then yes. If you're looking for a place to play around...well, not so much. If you do visit, the best part of the site is that there is a link to tell you where there will be free screenings of the movie. Just click on the link that says "Attend a free screening" to find out where you can see Amelia for free in your area! The other bonus of the website is that it does have so much information. You can find links to all things Amelia Earhart - the Earhart Museum, the Website of Women in Aviation, a link to the Women of NASA, an assortment of youtube links related to Amelia Earhart, as well as articles and news links to this pioneering lady and the film she inspired. And if you're on facebook don't forget that you can become a facebook fan. You'll find all the rest of the usuals on the site - trailer, gallery, info about cast and crew, but unfortunately no downloads to play with. I guess it is an adult movie so they don't expect many people will want fun stuff? I don't know.

The movie Black Dynamite opens in limited release this Friday, so we stopped by the movie website to see what they had going on. The answer? Alot of Jive Talkin'! But before we get to the jive, by far the best part of the site, is the Black Dynamite Yo'self link where you can upload a picture of yourself and make yourself Dy-No-Mite! When you're done with that, check out the Black Dynamite Talkin' Jive link which takes you to a Jive Soundboard where you can listen to jive clips from the movie!
