Battleship is one of the most anticipated battle movies to hit theaters this spring so we decided what better to do in anticipation of this movie than to review the site! The website for the new action movie starring Liam Neeson and Taylor Kitsch among others is full of content that will surely destroy the competition!

First of all, who does not like free movie stuff!? We all love it when they give us stuff for free and especially the content that is transferable to our favorite social networking sites! So go to the downloads section to find the twitter backgrounds, Facebook timeline images, chrome themes, and even your personal computer wallpapers!

However, possibly the most unique and definitely the coolest feature about the Battleships official movie site is the “Shred your Street” option linked on the landing page of the site. This awesome feature allows you to type in any physical street address of your choice, once loaded the location will immediately be targeted and bombarded by the alien beings that have come to destroy earth. As a test your can type is familiar addresses as the instructions suggest, one such address that should pop in your mind is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Now watch as google images and the website team up and send aliens to your location! Now test this on a more familiar address to you and or your friends! You will find that it is pretty accurate! What a sweet feature and for sure one of the best customizations between google street view and a movie site.

Now it is game time! Choose between the Facebook app game, trailer interactive game, and the classic battleship game. I tried the trailer game, while it is a unit game idea it was not very fun and I found myself wondering if I had even accomplished anything. Nevertheless, try it out… follow the on screen instructions and as the trailer for the movie plays out you have your chance to earn points.

The Dictator reviewed!

The website for the movie The Dictator starring Sacha Baron Cohen has absolutely nothing to offer. It is a site filled with fake information about the fictituous ruler from the movie, yet somehow has nothing amusing to offer. Hosted on the site there are several links that seemingly (without having seen the movie) have no relevancy to the film. Zappos.com on the sidebar takes you to the official shoe website and even an OfficeDepot url takes you to the stationary retailer. What do these links have to do with the dictator? Who knows! The worst part is that there is no explanation for these particular links and so it just comes off as a bit odd.

Of course there is an “About” section that provides a brief history of the ruler himself yet with little humor. If you are looking for entertainment this particular site has nothing to offer the casual movie website visitor. If you want to learn more about the movie I would suggest a “real” movie website for the official summary rather than this fictitious and pointless site.

Marvel’s The Avengers website fail

The newest and most anticipated Marvel super hero movie will be here soon! What we want to know is how the movie website stacks up to the others! Of course, the movie itself should not be one to miss, however, let us be the judge on how stellar, or not so stellar, the official site is.

Official Synopsis: “When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.”

Well, I have some bad news for Avengers fans… the official movie site is not on par with most movie sites out there. In fact, it might even have less content! Of course the synopsis, the tailer, and a downloads section for free wallpapers can be found… and there is a small movie still gallery. However, such little effort in content and such little effort in the graphics and design does not deserve much of a review. Pretty much not worthy of a visit!

Unfortunately the site http://marvel.com/avengers_movie/ deserves a 1 out of 5 stars ★, luckily there is till time to correct this problem before the movie hits theaters!

Safe House with Denzel

We were on a roll! We had four pretty great movie websites before coming to a screeching halt! You might be asking though, “what sites were those, for which movies?” Well, briefly, Ghost Rider, Journey to the Center of the Earth 2, Man on a Ledge … just to name some of the eye popping websites created this year… or last… but we are not keeping tabs on when websites are made, only when they are released with the movies itself…

Official Synopsis: “Oscar Winner Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds star in the action-thriller Safe House. Washington plays the CIA’s most dangerous traitor, who stuns the intelligence community when he surfaces in South Africa. WHen the safe house to which he’s remanded is attacked by brutal mercenaries, a rookie is forced to help him escape. As the masterful manipulator toys with his reluctant protege, the young operative finds his morality tested and idealism shaken. Now, they must stay alive long enough to uncover who wants them dead.”

The site is a template from which movie sites are typically built. The background images and the menu bar are all there, however, they were never really built upon. In fact, the Cast and Filmakers section has yet to be updated and features a “coming soon” prompt. You can grab a few downloads such as a wallpaper, aim icon, and even a FB cover image… however there is not much else to offer! The images are typical stills from the movie and were put into place with seemingly not much effort!

Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance

If I told you that visiting a website would make you want to see the movie even more what would you say?! Would you visit the site or would you skip it because it will save you close to $15 for one ticket and temptation to spend that money would just be too great! Well, Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance official site make you want to see the movie even more!

The website is pretty awesome! The loading page is animated by the Ghost Rider throwing a flame of fire around your screen… once you get in he wraps his chain around the logo title and pulls it within view of the visitor. Pretty intense!

Official Synopsis: Nicolas Cage returns as Johnny Blaze in Columbia Pictures’ and Hyde Park Entertainment’s Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance. In the successor to the worldwide hit Ghost Rider, Johnny still struggling with his curse as the devil’s bounty hunter is hiding out in a remote part of Eastern Europe when he is recruited by a secret sect of the church to save a young boy from the devil. At first, Johnny is reluctant to embrace the power of the Ghost Rider, but it is the only way to protect the boy and possibly rid himself of his curse forever.

The menu bar is easily accessed and designed with simplicity. Hover your mouse over the images and a layer peels away and reveals the section you will land on, alternatively you can use the side menu bar that is much more on the classic side of web design.

The main sections consist of the Story, Cast and Crew, Gallery, videos, and downloads. Each section, and each time you click on a title you get a huge ball of fire as the transition, sweet! The Gallery section is pretty unique, although does not have very many movie stills to look at. When you hover you mouse over these images you will burn a small hole in the photo! This gives you a feeling like you as the Ghost Rider himself!

Of course we all want free downloads, right?! Well, you get the common freebies; the twitter skins, wallpapers, and aim icons. But where the website goes above and beyond (thinking outside the box!) is the animated GIF section. Grab some awesome animated gif of The Rider that you can share with your buddies on a website of your choice… tumble it too!

Journey 2 the mysterious island

Journey 2 the mysterious island is in fact Journey to the Center of the Earth part 2! Except this time the lead character does not go to Brendan Fraser but to Dwayne Johnson!

According to TheWrap.com; “Back in May, Deal Central reported that “Earth” star Brendan Fraser was willing to hold out from the sequel out of loyalty to director Eric Brevig, who has been busy putting the finishing touches on Warner Bros.’ “Yogi Bear” in time for its Dec. 17 release. New Line wanted the “Journey” sequel for Fall 2011 and couldn’t wait around for the filmmaker, so the studio decided to move forward without Brevig or Fraser, who will now miss out on the sizable payday he was in line for.”

Some fans of the movie are outraged! Not so much at the change in director but the change in lead actor. Brenden Fraser is a character with a cult following that might snub a box office ticket due to this mistake by the studio. Nevertheless, the movie makes a box office debut and moviegoers will have to decide for themselves.

Enough about the character dispute! Let us take a look at the movie website for the film!

The website is plain and simple. The menu bar at the top takes you to the about section, video, photos, and downloads sections. There are no fancy or appealing transitions from one section to another, and no fancy layout for the content. The background images are fairly high quality, however, not the best at drawing the eye. There is a game that is called “Catch the Gold,” which is fairly addictive. The object of this game is to movie the character around and position him to catch the falling gold while dodging fallen lava balls! Pretty fun especially if you have some time to spare at work!

Man on A Ledge

Man On Ledge, the movie, starring Sam Worthington is a story about a man who puts his life in danger to prove a point. The point he is trying to prove is that his “innocence” of the accused crime is worth more to his prove than to his life. Read the official synopsis for more about the story of the film.

The website for the film is nice. The initial imagery on the website give the visitor a view of what it is like to stand on a ledge of a building in the middle of New York City. The graphics and story remind me of the movie Phone Booth that premiered in early 2000 and starred Colin Farrell.

Official Synopsis: In the heart-pounding thriller “man on a Ledge,” Nick Cassidy (Sam Worthington) makes a desper ate and life-threatening move to prove his innocence after he is framed for the theft of a rare, prized diamond. There are 4 parts to the site: the story, videos, gallery, and the cast. Read about the story and check out the cast section for more information on the actors appearing in the film. The Gallery has all of the movie stills for your viewing, these images are presented in a flashy film strip fashion layout, this particular layout makes it a bit frustrating to navigate because when your mouse cursor is positioned over an image the scroll bar will move. Some practice in using the module will be needed. This design can also be found in the cast section, it is very visually appealing and gives a modern 3D feel to the site.

Underworld Awakening!

The Underworld Awakening website is definitely eye candy, it is made for the user to feel the quality and the expected action and thrill from the upcoming film. The transitions and images on the site give the feeling of action, adventure, and horror! The site does have a sort of blue tint to it making it feel rather cold, and if you are visiting during the summer months it might make you feel a bit more comfortable! The coldness theme reveals itself as you enter the site, this is when you are directed to wake Selene up from her sleep with your voice! Pretty awesome feature! However if you do not want to allow control of your mic you can “deny” and she will wakeup!

Official Synopsis: Underworld Awakening brings a stunning new dimension to the epic battle between Vampires and Lycans, as the first film in the franchise to shoot in 3D. Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two films, returns in her lead role as the vampire warriors Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.

The website has some pretty nice images and the overall look and feel is well done. The only problem is the lack of interactivity displayed on the site. 3 out of 5 stars for the Underworld website! ★★★

The movie website for The Devil Inside is pretty creepy! What you get when you find the website for the film is a glimpse into the practice and teachings of an exorcism. You get an up close and personal look into the methods and even the journey of what a life would be like if a loved one were to be possessed.

Official Synopsis:

The Devil Inside Synopsis: In 1989, emergency responders received a 9-1-1 call from Maria Rossi;Suzan Crowley confessing that she had brutally killed three people. 20 years later, her daughter Isabella Fernanda Andrade seeks to understand the truth about what happened that night. She travels to the Centrino Hospital for the Criminally Insane in Italy where her mother has been locked away to determine if her mother is mentally ill or demonically possessed. When she recruits two young exorcists Simon Quarterman and Evan Helmuth to cure her mom using unconventional methods combining both science and religion, they come face-to-face with pure evil in the form of four powerful demons possessing Maria.

What the website has to offer are mainly the trailers for the movie. However you do have access to some of the restricted content in the trailer and even the TV spot. Further, sifting through the image gallery will send a terrifying creep down you spine as some of the images begin to move! At first you think it might just be your eyes playing tricks on you but the images do come to life!

Go For It dance movie

Go For it! Another dance hip-hop movie hits the big screen! On the official site for the movie Go For it! You can apply for $1 back for your school, team, or dance studio. And you can also apply for the premiere of the movie to come to your school!

Other than that there is not much else featured on the website. You can watch the movie trailer for Go For it!, which is YouTube embedded. But no bonus footage, no movie stills, no movie downloads.

The movie is about a student who falls in love with hip-hop dancing and centers around her experience and struggles of achieving her dreams. Go For it! Stars Aimee Garcia, Al Bandiero, and Jossara Jinaro.
