Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Rise of the Planet of the Apes is meant to be a prequel to "Planet of the Apes". The movie stars James Franco as Will Rodman, a scientist who is trying to find a cure for his father's Alzheimer's disease. The experimentation and drug development is done in a lab where chimpanzees are tested on. Rodman's initial drug developments were deemed unsuccessful by the company, and the project was shut down. But Rodman, with the help of a genetically-altered chimpanzee that he raises from infancy sets out to prove everyone wrong.
